We came to Shifen Lanterns Town in Pingxi, it is a small town with a few shops selling paper lanterns and some selling foods. There is the main railway station where we have to stand and let the lantern into the air, it is a working train station where we need to give way if there is a train coming.

During Chinese New Year’s revellers first descended on the area for the annual Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival, we can now come  to buy the lanterns all year round, and release them into the sky to become distant dots of color.

When we went into the shop to get the lantern and been told that each color represent a symbol of luck. Each lantern color symbolizes something different such as pink for romance, red for good fortune, white for health and yellow for success.

It is quite fun when we wrote our wishes, hopes and ideas on the lantern so that our wishes will be granted once the lantern is high up in the sky.  We have an enjoyable times painting and writing our wishes on the paper lantern. The shop workers will help us lit the lantern and released it into the sky.

The the lantern will flow in the sky for a while till the fire is gone and it became paper and drop onto the mountains. I’m not sure whether the government will clean up these mass amount of papers that been released in the air and dropped onto the mountains.
